What types of businesses can be established in Kosovo?

In Kosovo, you can register several types of businesses, including Individual Businesses, General Partnerships, Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), and Joint-Stock Companies (JSC). In addition, foreign companies can also register local branches or representative offices.

To establish a company in Kosovo, you will need to choose the type of company, define your fields of activity based on the Activity Code List, and register with the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (ARBK). Required documents include the ARBK application form, identification documents of owners or representatives, a representative’s consent certificate, Articles of Association, and in some cases, company bylaws or appointment decrees. Registration typically takes about one week.

Kosovo has a simple and investor-friendly tax system. Corporate tax is 3–10% depending on turnover, value-added tax (VAT) is either 0%, 8% or 18% depending on goods or services, and personal income tax is capped at 10%. Other taxes include a 9% rent tax and a 5% social security contribution on employee salaries.
